Vampire Diaries Discussion Forum

Hey Everyone!

So, we have been reading the Vampire Diaries for quite some time now! I'm thinking it's time to discuss. There maybe be spoilers so if you haven't finished yet, I would wait to contribute.

Here are some discussion questions:

1.) First of all Team Stefan or Team Damon?

2.) Where do you think Matt fits into this equation?

3.) Did anyone have a hard time relating to Elena?

4.)How do you feel about Elena becoming a vampire?

5.) What are your overall thoughts on the book? Did you like it? Would you recommend it to someone?

*If you have any more discussion questions, by all means, post them!
** Make sure you get your vote in on the next book we read! We will be starting soon!

  1. Uh, for the first question, I don't really know. I liked Damon AND Stefan, but Damon is.... Okay, Team Damon, ^o^!!! Matt fits in the close-friend-that-will-always-be-there-to-help-you part of the equation. No, I think the feelings of Elena were pretty easy to understand,(i mean, i cried when she died as a vampire, then totally shocked when she got back from being actually dead). I loved the book, and, YES, I would totally recommend it, if that is that someone other of starting reading actual long books!!!

  2. I understood Elena's feelings but I couldn't really identify with her. I didn't like her character until the end. I guess thats just character progression. I just felt like she was way too self absorbed. Maybe thats just me though!

  3. I liked Stefan, but really he was not that interesting. So I would have to say Team Damon. I just found the story a little more interesting when he was involved. I agree that Matt is the close friend that will always be a close friend. Too bad for him. At first I dont think I really liked Elena that much. I mean who is rooting for the girl who gets everything anyway. But in the end she really does become less self absorbed. I kind of knew that she would become a vampire by the end, just by the way the story was progressing, so I really wasnt surprised. I liked reading the books and finished them quite quickly. I would recommend them!

  4. I am also Team Damon for sure! I liked Stephan too but as you said, he wasn't very interesting. I don't think I would recommend this book. I think there are a lot better books out there.

  5. Can I make a confession? I couldn't get into these ones. And I've read them before. How terrible is that? :P I think I was Team Stefan, but I don't really remember.

Is it just me, though, or are these books rather sexist?

  6. I didnt notice that they were sexist but I really couldnt get into them either... they were just missing something.. I dont know something was just missing from the story...

  7. Maybe it was just the first one, but there was a moment where she thinks, "What was the point of life without boys?" or something like that, and I gave up.

  8. HAHA yeah, I didn't like Elena at all. I just thought she was selfish and bratty and only cared about her and Stephan and would totally throw her friends under the bus to get him.
